    As we arrived i handed over the the prepaid receipt that i had printed earlier. as soon as she allocated the car a fiat 500 she said that we should have a more powerful to get around the island. this is not needed i have been coming here for 20 years and a one litre is more than adequate for the island so i just demised it as i know its their job to upset. then came the insurance issue she wanted us to pay extra €65 for the rental period we only paid €100 for the car so this seen silly and i had also bought 3rd party excess insurance back in the UK. she then started to use fear tactics when i told her that i had this insurance and that it won't cover breakdowns but this is not true if the car breaks down due to anything other than wrong fuel to tyres then they have a obligation to recover the vehicle. but she insisted and wrote down my receipt that their would be no recovery and tried to make us feel scared that we need it. The last issue was the fuel we got the got with a full tank and was to bring back empty the issue is that they changed €48 for a full tank for a fiat 500 at canarian fuel prices that's crazy and when I challenged this she said for sure it costs that but when we had to fill up the car it cost €25 for a full tank nearly half the price.

    So you have to claim every little damage you find on your car via phone. And the report of previous damages is very unprecise.

    The big issue is that the pick up and drop of of your car takes place without presence of an europcar employee.

    After dropping off the car, I got a damage report and they charged me more than 300€ for scratches on a raw plastik rear bumper, which was already pre-damaged in the damage report! I wanted to disagree with this report, because I Dind't cause this damage, but europcar ignores my e-mails.

    I'm not recommending this company anymore! In Belgium they were ok, in Spain I've got the car with a scratch on the right wing.

    What a rip off! Do not book a car with Europcar. We have just dropped off an undamaged car and we couldn't see the factitious damage they said was on the left side of the car. This is a scam, we are very careful car hire customers and in 10 years of hiring cars abroad have never had this problem. We've been charged 600 Euros for "scratches" that we couldn't see on the car and there is nothing we can do about it!

    this is one of only a handful of one star ratings that i have ever given and its such a shame to start you holiday in a negative way as soon as you arrive. let me tell you what happened so that you can decide for your self if you can to rent with this company.

    In the end they admit that they did a mistake and they returned me the first debited amount. This issue took about 2 months to be solved.

    Then I've went to the office inside the Airport and I've told to the employer about what I've found. He marked the papers, stamped then and he told that is ok we don't need to worry about anything.

    in general the encounter was a masterclass in terrible customer service. i will never use inter rent again. i suggest that the management convey to staff that fear tactics are not the best way to welcome someone to a new country or your company. it was a very disappointing experience to say the least.

    Later after giving back the car they told me that they found the scratch on the same spot as I've already announced. Luckily I got the pictures before leaving the airport and the stamped papers.

    Avoid them at any cost, or BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU TAKE THE CAR! Make pictures and announce any kind of scratches or damages BEFORE YOU TAKE THE CAR!

    A week before departure we phoned if we were allowed to travel to a nearby island (la gomera). on the phone they said it wouldn't be a problem, so we booked the boat and a hotel there once arrived in tenerife they said we couldn't leave the island with car! We also had an full insurance booked and they wanted to cancel it and wanted to buy another insurance (the same) for 27euro per day!

    I've opened a case to my bank regarding about this issue. Then they send me an invoice of 176 euro for repair! For a damage witch it wasn't mine!
